Frequently asked questions

Beef makes a fantastic alternative to turkey for Christmas. From tender Traditional Rump Roasts to the showstopping and award-winning Himalayan Salt Aged Heritage Breed Rib Roast, our range is full of flavour and character, including our 3-Bone Dry Aged Sirloin Roast, NEW British Wagyu Sirloin Roast, award-winning Traditional Chateaubriand, or our Large 2-Bone Rib Roast, amongst many, many more.

At Donald Russell, we source our grass-fed British beef from trusted farmers and mature it traditionally for the best taste and tenderness. Whether you’re cooking for two or for a crowd, there’s a perfect roast for every Christmas table.

Our beef roasts serve between 2 and 16 people, depending on the joint. Serving sizes are listed for each product online.

Every beef product comes with its own defrosting and cooking guidelines, both online and within the packaging. Generally, we recommend defrosting overnight in the fridge, seasoning simply with salt and pepper, and allowing the beef to rest before carving. Please note, that for some larger joints of meat, your roast will require 12 - 15 hours of defrosting time per kilogram of meat - be sure to consider this when booking your delivery slot.

Yes, we offer a range of premium beef joints, including bone-in rib roasts, centre-cut fillet, and aged sirloin. Each is prepared by hand in our Aberdeenshire butchery for a restaurant-quality Christmas roast. Explore the range.

Yes, all our beef products are delivered frozen, so you can order early and store them in your freezer until needed.

Beef pairs beautifully with Yorkshire puddings, Maris Piper Roast Potatoes with Goose Fat, and Creamy Peppercorn Sauce. Try adding roasted vegetables or horseradish cream for a traditional finishing touch.
