
Minced Steak Cottage Pie
INGREDIENTS
- 1 small onion (chopped finely)
- 400g Minced Steak
- 1 tbsp oil
- 20g plain flour
- 150ml beef stock
- 1 tbsp parsley (chopped)
- pinch of marjoram or lovage
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 450g potatoes (cooked and mashed with butter)
- salt and pepper
METHOD
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/ Fan160°C/Gas 4.
- In a heavy-based ovenproof casserole pan, heat the oil and brown the onion and meat, stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the stock and simmer for a further 2 minutes. Add the parsley, marjoram or lovage and Worcestershire sauce. Season and cover with the mashed potatoes, marking the surface with a fork.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes until the potatoes are nicely browned on top.
- Serve with glazed carrots and baby turnips.
